Sam's Rialto Grill was established in 1983 by Samuel Hunter. Sam's southern recipes were born in Farmville, Virginia, as he grew up preparing meals with his Mother for his 13 siblings. He began a career in the restaurant industry at age 17. His first summer job was in the Atlantic City, NJ area at Zaberer's Restaurant (McKee City) as a dishwasher. He worked his way through the ranks and within 8 years he was one of the youngest African-American Head Chef's the Atlantic City area has seen. Knowing he wanted his own forum to entertain and serve, he opened the Bellport Inn (Venice Park, Atlantic City) in 1970. Bellport quickly became a happening spot in the area, and Sam still kept his duties as Head Chef at Zaberer's while running the Bellport Inn. In 1983 Sam, along with his wife Brenda decided it was time to move on to the next step. Sam sold the Bellport Inn, and went on to purchase the Rialto Bar & Grill in Pleasantville. Sam left Zaberer's shortly after that, and devoted his full attention on making Sam's Rialto Grill what it is today. Brenda (Wife) and Jake (Son) worked under and learned from Sam through out the years. Though, Sam has since passed his recipes and vision have not passed. Please take some time to join our family at Sam's Rialto Grill. |
